Welcome to the website of CTS

CTS is an association registered under Swiss law, working for human solidarity in aid and development.

Last up-date:  May  2007

Our work is centered for the moment in eastern Morocco and in the area of handicap and disability.

We have formal partnerships with the following Moroccan Associations:

Oujda Association Al Wafa, main partner
Tendrara (State ofFiguig) Association Mohammadia
El Aïoun (State of Taourirt) Association Assadaka
Missour (State of Boulemane): Association Atadamoune

We collaborate with other partners: University of Oujda, Ministry of Health, National Aid Department, Embassies, Associations, Secular companies, foreign NGOs...

Our mission

We support projects with local partners who work for the good of the most neglected people.

Our motto

Bringing local ideas and projects into reality

Our values

People who we treat wholistically and without distinction or discrimination.
Partners to work with in a clear and transparent manner so that our collaboration is constructive and effective
Training for competency  adapted for those who commit themselves in order  to see long term results

A standard of excellence with moral values  which alone can permit the optimal use of means and materials, to reinforce the role of public services, to activate the civil society so that they will help those usually forgotten

Our strategies

On-site

We work in an organised way through concrete actions so that our projects are clearly defined.
We mandate the project director to prepare, implement and follow-up our projects with our partners.
We mandate professionnel collaborators in order to bring  technical advantage to each project.
We facilitate annual evaluations by people outside of each project.
We may give direct aid after having verified the situation of need of the beneficiary.
We favour a structural approach in collaboration with institutions as the agents of change

In Switzerland

We prefer a simplified  administration costing less to operate, dependent on volunteers and consultants who may intervene as we request.
Our accounts are  submitted annually to qualified auditors.

We regularly provide information about our projects via our bulletin (published three times per year) and the updates on our website.

Projects running at this time

Readaptation of Cerebral Palsy children

Our main partner in Morocco is Al Wafa: a Moroccan association situated in Oujda.  The members consist mainly of parents of handicapped children.

Since January 2003, Al Wafa has located its activities in a building at the school "Al Kindy", loaned by the Minister for National Education. In 2007, Al Wafa was able to delocalise some activities to facilitate geographical access to the services.

At the moment, about 60 mentally handicapped children are occupied daily (Monday to Friday) in a modified school programme and appropriate adapted activities.

There are also about 60 children with cerebral palsy attending physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions on a twice-weekly basis.

Special devices are produced in a workshop: standings, wheelchairs, … and splints.

Some families are trained in their homes if they cannot attend a centre for weekly treatments.

An awareness program goes alongside activities. It includes radio programs, printed material and videos.

The aspects of the relationship with the child and the implication of the family in his or her treatments are particularly taken into consideration.

Al Wafa and CTS have organised trainings and internships. CTS has trained 16 help-physiotherapist during 3- to 6-months training in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

Since 2003, CTS is mandating a Swiss couple who provides technical help: a physiotherapist and an engineer.

Several people with a paramedical profession have also been helping.

The use of computing for mentally handicapped

Since June 2005, CTS has mandated an engineer to develop the use of computers as a tool for the rehabilitation of mentally handicapped children.

Special education
CTS has accompanied the pioneering work of Al Wafa though weekly seminars to help train the teachers, through the follow-up of classroom activities and by producing and introducing an adapted education programme during the school year  2003-2004.

In 2007-2008, CTS has mandated a teacher for arts to Al Wafa school.
